Mary finishes a call as Ben and Robby arrive.

MARTY: Okay, Joe. Thank you. Yes. OKay, thanks. 

Marty hangs up the phone and addreses Ben and Robby. As Marty has a seat, Ben and Robby alos sit down.

MARTY: I've setup a meeting for tomorrow with outside counsel.

setup a meeting: 미팅을 잡다. 이거 자주 쓰게 되는 말이야. setup의 의미는 '어떤 것의 준비를 마친다'야. 무대 세팅이라고 하잖아. 여기에서 setting이라고 쓰는 이유가 뭔가를 할 수 있도록 준비하는거라 그래.
outside counsel: 사외 변호사. 

BEN: Joe Albano?

MARTY: Yeah.

BEN: Who's the judge in this case?
누가 판사인데요 이 재판에?
case는 법률적인 사건, 소송 등을 말해. 물론 일반적인 상황에도 쓰긴 하지.

MARTY: Um.. (turing over a note) Constant Sweeney.
(노트를 넘기며) 판사 Sweetney.

BEN: Tough.
힘들겠어요.

MARTY: Why's that?
왜 그렇죠?
What do you mean? What's the reason? 등등과 같은 맥락의 말이야. 이유를 물어볼 때 써?

BEN: Good Catholic girl.
독실한 카톨릭 신자죠.

Marty starts to briing up the real reason he called them.

MARTY: (taking a deep breath) So, um... judging from what I've read, it doesn't seem like we've done a very thorough investigation into the Geoghan case.
(깊은 숨을 쉬며) 그래서 말인데요... 내가 읽은 걸 판단해 보면, 보이지 않아요 우리가 철저한 조사를 Geoghan 사건에 했다고.

BEN: No, it's not. We looked hard at Geoghan case. David Amstrong from Metro, Michael Paulson for Religion.

look hard at ~ : ~를 열심히 봐..., look at이 단순히 보다의 의미도 있지만 뭔가를 살펴볼 때도 써.

MARTY: Okay, but just so I understand, beyond our daily coverage, we haven't committed any long term investigative resources to the question whether or not Cardinal Law knew about this?
좋아요, 하지만 내가 이해하기로는, 우리의 일일 취재량을 넘어서, 우린 투입한 적이 없어요 어떤 장기적인 취재 역량을 의문에 대해 Cardinal Law가 이걸 알았는지 아닌지.

commit /kəˈmɪt/: 어떤 것을 저지르다는 의미인데 '실행하다' 정도로 보면 되지 않을까... 내가 IT 개발자라 이 단어를 하루에도 여러번 쓰게 돼. 나는 story를 commit한다. 소스코드를 commit한다고 할 때 주로 써.
long term investigative resource: 장기적인 조사 역량. resource는 물건, 물질, 사람 상황에 따라 다른 형태가 될 수 있어. cf. natrual resource. human resource.

BEN: (displeased) No, we haven't.
(언잖아 하며) 아니오. 그런 적 없죠.

Marty turns to Robby, head of the Spotlight. He is eager to conduct an investigation report on this case.

MARTY: (to Robby) And this kind of thing, your team would do.
(Robby에게) 그리고 이런 일은 당신 팀이 하는 일이죠?

ROBBY: Spotlight? Well, yeah. But we're still prospecting the Boston PD story I told you about.
Spotlight팀이요? 글쎄요, 그렇지만, 우린 아직 Boston PD 이야기를 조사 중인데요.
prospect /prəˈspɛkt/ 이게 명사로 쓰이면 /ˈprɒspɛkt/. 강세가 앞에 있고 전망의 의미인데 동사로 쓰이면 강세가 뒤에 오고 발굴하다의 의미야.
the Boston PD story / I told you about: 영어의 흔한 구조. the Boston PD story가 먼저 나오고 뒤에 나오는 문장이 이걸 설명해 주는 거지.

MARTY: Could you set that aside?
그거 따로 제껴놓을 수 있나요?
set aside: 옆에 놓다. 보류하다.

ROBBY: (glancing at Ben) We could.
(Ben을 보며) 가능할듯.

BEN: Marty, in past, Spotlight had success in large because... they picked their own projects.
Marty, 과거에 Spotlight는 성공했어요 크게 왜냐면 그들은 골랐어요 자기들의 프로젝트를.

their own projects: 그들 자신의 프로젝트들. pick their own projects를 한단어 처럼 연습하자.

Marty pauses, then begs favour of Robby.
